7pm: Sleeping Ladye Waites–Winter Baroque Music

December 22 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

A NOWELL CHRISTMAS PARTY
Join Sleeping Ladye Waites for an evening of early Christmas music and familiar carols on Sunday, December 22nd at 7 pm at The Writer’s Block.
Sleeping Ladye Waites emerged four years ago from a small group of musicians with a passion for playing early music – from the Medieval (1300’s) through the Baroque Era (1750). The group is now comprised of a growing number of musicians who play various early instruments from recorders to cornamusen, gambas to sackbuts.   The first half of the evening will be a concert – mainly of early Christmas carols from times long gone by.  Once again, Brunhilda, the contrabass recorder standing five feet tall, will make her appearance. The second half of the evening will be a community sing-along.  Sing as much or as little as you like while Sleeping Ladye Waites provides the accompaniment on a selection of familiar Christmas tunes.  You might be surprised to learn just how old some of our favorite, familiar Christmas carols are and you might have a chance to jingle a few bells yourself.  Ho, ho, ho!
